theists on the rampage, yet again

president george washington wrote that «[t]he united states is in no sense founded on a christian doctrine». our founding father’s statement notwithstanding, the texas republican party recently reaffirmed its platform plank affirming that it exposes «the myth of the separation of church and state». at its convention in austin, the party asserted that the «united states of america is a christian nation, and the public acknowledgement of god is undeniable in our history» and that the «nation was founded on fundamental judeo-christian principles based on the holy bible».

the statement’s disregard for the first amendment of the US constitution has led to calls urging bush and the national gop to repudiate the platform’s plank, but the national republican party refuses to criticise the statement.
