«ain't no stoppin' us now»
american r&b singer john whitehead, best known for the 1979 hit song «ain't no stoppin' us now», has been shot dead in philadelphia's west oak lane neighbourhood, while he and another man, also wounded, were mending his car in the street.i'd never heard of whitehead, his singing partner gene mcfadden nor the hit that that made them famous. but whitehead's pointless death caught my attention and so did the lyrics of his hit song, which seem as meaningful today as they would any time in history.
